i'm back :(

....from vacation. we went to VA Beach for a few days.
and to be honest i was glad to get the hell outta here
for a while, but wasn't really looking fwd to VA beach.
i have been there about 100 times, and i just don't
remember it having lots of fun things.
boy was i wrong!! i just wasn't looking in the
right places! WE HAD A BLAST!!!
and we are planing our anniversary trip
there next spring already!
the hub doesn't like the beach much,
but he's the one that actually recommended that
we go back in the spring. that means its good people!

we visited the VA Aquarium which i HIGHLY
recommend. and most definitely take in an IMAX.
we've been to Ripley's, but we really liked this one more.
GO VA for finally having something kewl! :)
we drove around a lot, and took in some fresh
catch sea food. it was just a wonderful time!
i was actually gonna book just one more day...
but then we'd be coming back in crazy weekend
traffic....and i was shook up enough
from all the regular crazy traffic.

i didn't take in any quilt stores, oops!
the main one was deep in the heart of
crazy traffic town, and even if they had
moda for $1 it wasn't worth it to me.
i did however pick up another "old-lady"
habit. Pandora! i haven't seen anyone
other than that wear them, anyways
(the authentic ones, anyway)
i got a starter silver bracelet with
a sea turtle charm.
i fell in LOVE with the sea turtles
at the aquarium. even when they are
as large as me, they are so adorable.

anyhow, here are a few of
my fave pix.

hope yall had a good week,
i know i did! ;)

Forcing it

i swear i am doing it.
this little "quilt-a-long" has caused me
quite a few episodes. quite. a. few.
everything was going smoothly until
week 2. and it has been down hill ever since.
let me just break it down for you:
so i was sewing my rows together and my machine
decided it didn't wanna play nice anymore and
i had already sewn 1/2 way down the row
before i looked up and saw something askew.
so i had a fit of rage:
and ripped it all to hell. i just was not
in the mood that day.
so it lay in a ripped tattered heap in the floor
for about a week until i decided to fix it.
THEN, once i slapped it together
(literally, no trimming and truing up-
did i mention i was not in the mood?)
i went to get snuggle fabric for the back since
it was on sale..got 2 yards...figured that is enough..
WRONG. it only covered 1/2 of it. i could have chopped
it all to bits and re-assembled, but screw that, the
material was on sale....so back to joann's i go.
i had it in my head that i only needed 1 yard.
so i get home, true up everything and i realize
how small my one yard was....
WELL HELLO! that was because it was
only 1 YARD, IDIOT!! so instead of
tossing the whole damned thing in the fire i
talked my self down and pieced it till it was the
right size.....then i break out the batting
i had gotten a few weeks back when it was
50% off, and guess what? TOO SMALL!!!
OMG! seriously?
well it was wider than longer so i just trimmed
the excess off the end and sewed into place so it fit.
it is still 1" too short, but who gives a crap!?
so i get 1/2 way thru quilting 1 side yesterday, and
my machine decided to have another tension moment..
one i have yet to figure out. i don't understand how it
can sew 12 blocks continuously and the F up on
the last few. i just don't know why what this
stupid little quilt is becoming such a pain.
i WILL finish it, just in spite of its self.
it may look like doo, but by God it will be
marked off my list. and hidden in the closet.
or given to satan for Christmas.
i am not bitter.

so i am trying to redirect myself into
cutting the pieces for Raggedy JoAnn.
not making very much headway.
we'll see.

on to cuter things!!!!
here is my new fav:
she doesn't have a name yet
don't u just wanna smoosh her little face in?!

how's yalls projects coming?
Anyone else have something they want
to burn in a ritual?!
